Lamb shank meat for Kapseh

Ingredients:

What you’ll need:

-x4lamb shanks
-1 whole onion

-4 cinnamon sticks

-4 bay leaves

-6 whole cloves

-2Tsp Mansaf or kapseh spices which ever you have is fine (can be found at a middle eastern grocery store)

-salt

-ghee

-toasted mixed nuts (halved almonds,slivered almonds, pine nuts)
Method:

Step 1:


In a large pot place shanks, onion, cinnamon,bay leaves and cloves and cover with water. Bring to a boil and allow to cook for min 2hours.
Step 2:


I personally allowed the shanks to boil for 3 hours. I’m so glad that I did-the meat was melting in the mouth! 

Step 3:

Take out the shanks and place into a bowl. With the remaining stock discard the cloves,onion and cinnamon sticks

And if making the rice from our Mansaf recipe {Click Here Mansaf rice } then use the stock to cook the rice instead of dissolved chicken cubes. 

With 2 forks pull apart meat from the bone.

Step 4:

In a pan heat a little ghee, and place the pulled meat along with salt ad the Mansaf or kapseh spices and mix through well. 

Step 5:

Place meat over rice followed by the toasted nuts! 

Serve with either our home made chilli salsa {click here Chilli salsa } or plain yoghurt. YUMMY!

  1. My husband and I both really enjoy lamb shanks and I prepare them several different ways. I can’t wait to try your version, they sound delicious with the toasted nut topping.
